We aim to work within and help improve the health systems of country in which we operate.

We work in partnership with public and private health systems in Nepal to strengthen existing services or plug the gaps.

In some countries, Marie Stopes International provides services they cannot offer. In others, it supplements their existing services, including training government health workers or providing technical support.

We partner with a range of private healthcare providers through our BlueStar social franchise, providing ongoing training and equipment in order to expand access to high quality family planning and safe abortion services.

We call this a ‘total market approach’. Through this approach, we expand the choices available to women and build capacity in a country’s health system. Our approach might range from training clinicians working in top public hospitals through to franchising of rural pharmacists and midwives.

Our family planning services include education and provision of various short and long term contraception methods. These include condoms and the contraceptive pill, to long-acting methods such as implants and Intra-Uterine Devices (IUDs). We also offer permanent methods of tubal ligation and vasectomy.
